MOSCOW, Jun 11 (PRIME) -- The output of Russian diamond producer ALROSA decreased by 56.9% on the year in January–April, according to a statement of the press service of Yury Trutnev, presidential envoy to the Far East, seen by PRIME on Thursday.

"The activities of ALROSA were reported by CEO and General Director Sergei Ivanov. The diamond production in January–April amounted to 43.1% compared to the same period in 2019," Trutnev said.

According to the statement, Trutnev ordered the Finance Ministry, the Natural Resources Ministry, ALROSA and the government of the republic of Yakutia to elaborate a plan for diversification of the company's activities.

Trutnev's aide Timur Chernyshev told PRIME that the official offered ALROSA to consider producing gold or lithium. "The possibility of diversification of ALROSA’s operations due to a hard situation on the market was discussed during the meeting. Such areas as development of metals mines, including of gold and lithium, were discussed," Chernyshev said.
